These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your use of Sylheti Koina (the “service”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a matrimonial platform operated from Ireland. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
These Terms form part of a set of policies that also includes our Privacy Policy, our Refund and Cancellation Policy, our Acceptable Use Policy and our Law Enforcement Protocols.

Sylheti Koina enables adults to create their own matrimonial profiles, browse and search other members’ profiles, and communicate privately using text-based messaging. Members choose potential partners themselves by browsing and searching, and communicate directly with one another.
We do not provide automated matchmaking or an agency service, and we do not evaluate prospective partners or select matches for you. We do not guarantee that you will receive responses, meet anyone, find a compatible partner or marry. You are responsible for your own decisions about other members.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the service, and you must have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. You agree to provide accurate, current and truthful information when you register and in your profile, and to keep it up to date. You must keep your login details confidential and are responsible for activity that takes place under your account. Please tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used without your authorisation.
Your profile goes through our profile validation and admin approval process before it becomes visible to other members. Completing a payment does not automatically approve your profile.
You are responsible for the content you upload or send, including your profile information, photographs and messages. You must have the right to submit that content, and it must not infringe anyone else’s rights or breach our Acceptable Use Policy.
Matrimonial profiles do not display members’ phone numbers, email addresses or home addresses as profile fields. However, these details are not automatically removed from free-text content or private messages, so please be careful about what you choose to share. You should not share another person’s private information without their permission.
You keep ownership of the content you submit. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, for as long as your content is on the service and for a reasonable period afterwards as needed to operate the service, to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example, resizing images for display) and display your content for the purpose of operating, securing, providing and promoting the service. You can remove your content by deleting it or your account, and this licence ends in line with that removal (other than limited copies kept for backup, security or legal reasons).
You must use the service lawfully and respectfully. Your use of the service is also governed by our Acceptable Use Policy, which sets out the conduct that is not permitted (including scams, harassment, hate speech, sexual exploitation, spam and attempts to compromise accounts).
In particular, you must not use Sylheti Koina to engage in, facilitate, promote or recruit people for human trafficking, including sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. You must not use the service to aid, abet, encourage, arrange or facilitate abuse, exploitation, coercion, forced marriage or any other unlawful harm against any person. The full list of prohibited conduct is set out in our Acceptable Use Policy.
These prohibitions do not restrict lawful, consensual introductions between adults who are seeking marriage, which is the purpose of the service; they prohibit abuse, exploitation, coercion and non-consensual conduct. Breach of this section may result in the consequences described in section 9 of these Terms.
Certain features require a paid membership. Our current plans and prices are:
Prices for international card payments may be shown and charged in euro (EUR), pounds sterling (GBP) or US dollars (USD). Customers in Bangladesh may pay in Bangladeshi taka (BDT) using a supported mobile payment method, or by international card.
Payment is a single, one-off payment for the period you select. It does not renew automatically and there is no recurring billing. Before you pay, the checkout page shows the price, the currency and the period of membership you are purchasing, so please review these before confirming. Prices shown at checkout apply to your purchase.
Memberships are purchased for a fixed period and do not renew automatically. Because there is no recurring billing, there is no auto-renewal to cancel: your membership simply runs to the end of the period you paid for. If you need help with your membership, contact us at [email protected].
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer. When you buy a membership online, Irish consumer law generally gives you a 14-day right to cancel (withdraw from) the contract. For a digital service, this right is lost only once the service has been fully supplied and only where you gave your prior express consent for supply to begin during the cancellation period together with an acknowledgement that you would thereby lose the right to cancel. Where you cancel within the cancellation period and you have already used part of the service, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for the service supplied up to the point of cancellation.
You also have statutory remedies if a service is not supplied, or does not conform to the contract, under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 and related legislation. These may include a proportionate price reduction or, where the lack of conformity is not minor, ending the contract. See our Refund and Cancellation Policy for how this works in practice and how to contact us.
We may restrict, suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy, if we reasonably believe your account is being used unlawfully or fraudulently, or if your use harms or threatens other members, us or third parties. Where it is practicable and appropriate, we will tell you and give you an opportunity to respond first. We may act immediately where we consider it necessary to protect other members, our systems or to comply with the law. You may stop using the service at any time.
We work to keep the service available and secure, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, timely or error-free, or that it will be compatible with every device. The service is provided for personal, non-commercial use by adults seeking marriage.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights or the statutory remedies described in section 8.
If you have a complaint or a concern about the service or another member, please contact us at [email protected]. We will look into your complaint on a best-efforts basis. We do not guarantee a particular response time. As a consumer, you may also contact the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) or use the European Consumer Centre for cross-border matters.
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the service or the law. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page and, where appropriate, tell you through the service or by email before the changes take effect. If you do not agree to a change, you should stop using the service.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in another country, you keep the benefit of any mandatory rules and protections of the law of your country of residence, and you may also be able to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence. Nothing in this section deprives you of those mandatory protections.
This Privacy Policy explains how Sylheti Koina collects and uses personal data, and the rights you have. We are the data controller for the personal data described below. This summary should be read with our Cookie Policy.
We use your personal data to:
We do not sell your personal data. We require our service providers to protect your data and use it only as we instruct.
Some of our service providers are based outside the European Economic Area (EEA), so your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside the EEA. Where we transfer personal data outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards provided for by law, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. You can contact us for more information about the safeguards used.
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. We then delete or anonymise it, unless we need to keep it longer to comply with a legal obligation (for example, tax, accounting or record-keeping requirements) or to deal with disputes and legal claims. Some retention periods are shorter: for example, certain verification and security data is scheduled for deletion after a limited period (currently around 90 days). Account deletion requests are actioned in line with our legal obligations.
Subject to the law, you have the right to:
You can exercise these rights by contacting us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Some rights are subject to exceptions in law.
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a personal data breach that affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authority where we are legally required to do so.
We use essential cookies to operate the service, and we and our providers may use other cookies and similar technologies (including Google Analytics and the Meta/Facebook Pixel) to understand how the service is used and to measure our marketing. Where required, we ask for your consent to non-essential cookies and you can manage them through your browser or our cookie controls. For details, see our Cookie Policy.
The service is for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 is using the service, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date on this page and, where appropriate, tell you through the service or by email.
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, contact us at [email protected]. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (www.dataprotection.ie) or your local supervisory authority.
Membership is purchased as a single, one-off payment for a fixed period (for example, one month, three months, six months or twelve months) and gives you access to the paid features for that period. It does not renew automatically and there is no recurring billing. This policy explains your cancellation and refund rights and how to make a request. It does not reduce your statutory rights as a consumer.
Because you buy online, Irish consumer law generally gives you a 14-day period in which you can cancel (withdraw from) the contract without giving a reason. For a digital service, this right is lost only once the service has been fully supplied and only where you gave your prior express consent for supply to begin during the cancellation period together with an acknowledgement that you would thereby lose your right to cancel. If you cancel within the cancellation period and you have already used part of the service, you may be asked to pay a proportionate amount for the service supplied up to the point of cancellation.
To cancel, simply tell us by email at [email protected] within the cancellation period, stating that you wish to cancel. You can use the model wording below, or your own clear statement.
“I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the supply of the following service: [membership plan], ordered on [date]. Name: [your name]. Email: [your email]. Date: [date].”
If we do not supply the service, or if it does not conform to the contract, you have statutory remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 and related legislation. Depending on the circumstances, these may include requiring us to bring the service into conformity, a proportionate reduction in price, or, where the lack of conformity is not minor, ending the contract and obtaining a refund. Contact us and we will assess your case.
In addition to your statutory rights, we may, at our discretion, issue a refund in situations such as a duplicate charge, an obvious billing error, or a technical problem that prevents you from accessing the service for a prolonged period. Please contact us and we will consider your request on its merits.
Email [email protected] with your name, the email address on your account, the plan you purchased, the date of purchase and the reason for your request. We may need to ask you for information to verify your account and locate your payment.
Where a refund is due, we will issue it to the original payment method used for the purchase, unless you agree otherwise. Refunds are processed without undue delay and, where the law sets a deadline, within the required period. Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to make the funds available.
Nothing in this policy excludes or restricts any refund or remedy that you are entitled to by law, and nothing in it overrides your statutory cancellation and conformity rights. Subject to those rights, where you have had the benefit of a paid period and we have provided the service, we may decline a discretionary refund for that period.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date on this page. Changes do not affect rights that already arose before the change.
